Seven published standards and one draft

Where 26517 sits in the 2651x family

26517 is the mobile member. It does not replace any of the others, and it leans on 26514:2022 for the general design and development process. This is the map a team needs before deciding what to read first.

What the family does not do

None of these standards certifies an organisation, and none of them is a law. They are international standards for the information work around software and systems. A team can follow them voluntarily, cite them in a contract, or use them as a method. The 2651x family is not a management system standard like 27001 or 9001, and 26517 does not create a certificate.

Why 26514 matters most here

Clause 2 of the draft names only 26514:2022. That makes it the one document a reader has to hold to read 26517 properly. The other family members are useful context, and the bibliography names several of them, but they are not normative for this draft. If a team has one acquisition budget for this work, 26514:2022 is the text to buy first, and the draft is the second.

The two 2026 publications

26512:2026 and 26516:2026 are published editions, not drafts. 26513 is at stage 60.00, under publication, so its 2017 edition is still the published text until the new one appears. The family is moving at the same time as 26517, which is why a watch on one standard is not enough. The change watch on this site covers 26517 and the record this product is built from; it does not silently substitute for a watch on the rest of the family.
